The organization was started in 2006 when EPNET’s Founder, Theresa Royal Brown, grew tired of not being able to find affordable conferences in the DMV area that were geared for entrepreneurs and other like-minded business owners. The organization has grown from an annual conference to monthly networking events as well as training workshops all year for entrepreneurs and professionals. EPNET’s day to day operations are managed by the Founder and President, Theresa Royal Brown and Vice President, Charles Brown. There is also a team of individuals who give of their time and resources in support of the EPNET mission. EPNET has a special love for our young people and we want them to succeed as entrepreneurs. In 2011, we founded the Entrepreneurs and Professionals Network Foundation which will award scholarships to young entrepreneurs to help with a start-up or an existing business. If you would like more information to be emailed to you about our scholarship program, please email us at email@example.com and the information will be sent to you.

Ms. Royal Brown possesses well over 12 years experience in the meeting planning industry. She also received her degree in Business Management from Central Pennsylvania College in Summerdale, PA. In 2006, frustrated with the lack of resources for African American small business owners and the continual struggle to get financing and other business information, the idea of doing a conference for African American entrepreneurs was born. In addition, many local entrepreneurs are recognized for their good work and Ms. Royal Brown decided to add a component to the conference entitled ”Legacy Awards” for small business owners leaving a living legacy for other business owners. In 2009, The African American Empowerment Weekend (AAEW) changed its name to Entrepreneurs & Professionals Network (EPNET) and is spreading the message of entrepreneurship in all communitie
Charles Brown – Vice – President
His heart has always gone out to families, especially to young people. From working with the underserved since he was 19 years old, to being an alcohol and drug counselor for the past 17 years, there has always been a passion to see people enjoy a life more abundantly. One of the ways that he helps is by educating families and set them up for financial success. He looks to help those that are in need of what he has to offer. Being a combat veteran in the Marine Corps (Desert Storm 1991), he is a fan of his country and people that live here, no matter what their background. In his role as Vice President of EPNET, Charles helps with promotion of EPNET activities and works side by side with his wife Theresa to bring forth the vision and goals of the EPNET organization.
Lee is the proud owner of Willis Grill, a delectable barbecue sauce he invented with his father. Lee has been part of the EPNET team since we began in 2006. He started out as a “helper” and quickly rose in the ranks to EPNET’s Director of Business Development. Lee’s promptness and can do attitude have been a great addition to EPNET, and we are blessed to have him as part of our team.
Rebecca is an Independent Representative with Legal Shield and has had her own business for several years. She has been part of the EPNET family since 2008 and has been our Director of Registration for two years. Rebecca’s sweet spirit and attention to detail make her a great asset and joy to work with. We are honored to have her as part of our team.
